"'If I am released from this prison today I will be at my workplace tomorrow,' Enoch Burke told the High Court"
"'Mr Burke, your ability to shoot yourself in the foot is unparalleled in my experience,' Mr Justice Cregan responded"
Enoch Burke, described as an anti-transgender schoolteacher, remained in Mountjoy Prison after being found in contempt. Mr Justice Brian Cregan ordered Burke's release to allow adequate preparation for a legal challenge against the appeals body reviewing whether Wilson's Hospital School was correct to sack him. The judge said the order was made in the interests of justice. Burke told the High Court that if released he would return to his workplace immediately. The judge criticized Burke's actions, saying his ability to harm his own position was unparalleled in the judge's experience.
