"On Oct. 30, 2024, a 2020 Yamaha GP1800R SVHO and trailer were reported stolen from the driveway of a Lindenhurst home. On Nov. 26, 2024, a 2022 Yamaha SHO, a 2018 Yamaha FX Cruiser, and a trailer were taken from the backyard of a home in Oakdale. On Dec. 3, 2024, a 2025 Yamaha boat and trailer were reported stolen from the parking lot of Spencer Leasing in Bay Shore."
"Authorities said the investigation later connected the two men to similar watercraft thefts in Nassau County. On Jan. 16, 2025, Nassau County police arrested Genao and Rodriguez in connection with those incidents. After further investigation, law enforcement linked them to the Suffolk County cases."
Willis Estrella Genao, 28, of Brooklyn, and Carlos Torres Rodriguez, 27, of Howard Beach, face charges for a coordinated theft spree targeting personal watercraft across five Suffolk County communities. Between October and December 2024, the men stole five jet skis and boats, including Yamaha and Sea-Doo models, from driveways, backyards, and a commercial parking lot in Lindenhurst, Oakdale, West Islip, Bay Shore, and East Islip. Investigation revealed similar thefts in Nassau County, leading to their arrest on January 16, 2025. Genao was arraigned on one count of second-degree grand larceny and five counts of third-degree grand larceny. Rodriguez was arraigned on one count of third-degree grand larceny.
