"This year, sustained and significant work has been undertaken to strengthen immigration enforcement and increase the removal of people who have no legal right to be in Ireland," Mr O'Callaghan said."
""This sends a clear message: if a person's application for international protection is refused and they are ordered to leave the State, they must do so. If they choose not to leave voluntarily, they will be forced to leave," he added. Minister O'Callaghan said Ireland "must hold firm on this principle", adding that deportations are an "essential part of any immigration system"."
GardaĆ from the Garda National Immigration Bureau removed 24 adult Pakistani males, who departed Dublin Airport on a charter flight at 7pm and arrived in Islamabad the next morning. This was the fourth charter deportation operation since charter flights resumed in February. Three previous charter flights removed 106 people with deportation orders, bringing the year's charter total to 130. In addition, 132 deportation orders have been enforced on commercial flights and 40 people have left unescorted so far in 2025. More than 3,000 deportation orders have been issued this year, and 1,501 individuals have departed under enforced deportation or voluntary return. Enforcement efforts have been strengthened and enforced deportations have doubled.
