The National Severe Weather Warning for strong winds in Scotland has been upgraded to Amber from Monday 10:00 to 22:00 due to Storm Floris. A Yellow warning for the northern half of the UK remains from 06:00 to 23:59. Storm Floris is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain. Scotland will likely experience gusts of 50-70mph, peaking at over 80mph on exposed areas. Inland regions may see gusts of 40-50mph. Rainfall of 20-30mm is projected, with some hill areas seeing 40-60mm.
Much of Scotland is likely to see gusts of 50-70mph with more than 80mph on some exposed coasts, hills and bridges.
Western coastal areas will see the highest gusts late morning, with the strongest winds transferring to northeastern Scotland by late afternoon.
Across the wider Yellow warning area, many inland areas are likely to see gusts of 40-50mph, with 60mph likely at higher elevations and around some exposed coasts.
Relatively high rainfall accumulations will build-up over part of north and west of Scotland where 20-30mm of rain will fall quite widely with upwards of 40-60mm over some hills and mountains.
