Spanish police arrested three men believed to have piloted a narco-submarine that delivered more than 3.6 tonnes of cocaine to Galicia. The probe began in August after Policia Nacional, with the US Drug Enforcement Administration, identified an alleged smuggling gang in Outes posing as a nautical equipment company. On 13 September high-powered boats were tracked leaving O Freixo and intercepted while loading bales into trailers. Officers recovered one tonne after a trailer overturned and found the rest hidden under a tarpaulin on a beach. The alleged sub crew fled in a taxi in wet clothes and were arrested; a wetsuit was found. Authorities seized 3.65 tonnes of cocaine, cash, two boats, five cars, a trailer and arrested 14 suspects.
