Elyse Busch was arrested after her infant and dog were discovered unattended in her car at a Rhode Island casino. Surveillance footage revealed Busch had been in the casino for over 30 minutes before the police's arrival. She faces charges of cruelty to or neglect of a child, with bail set at $3,000, while the infant was taken for evaluation and later released to family.
Around 7 a.m. on Saturday, Tiverton police responded to a report of an unattended infant in a vehicle. Police and casino security guards found a white Toyota on the upper level of the parking garage with unlocked doors and an infant and small dog inside.
Using casino surveillance footage, police located Busch playing a slot machine and noted that she entered the casino over 30 minutes prior to their arrival.
Police arrested and charged Busch with cruelty to or neglect of a child. Bail was set at $3,000 and her hearing is planned for Thursday at Newport District Court.
The 15-month-old infant was taken by Tiverton Rescue to Hasbro Children's Hospital for evaluation and was later released to a family member.
