It is the third night of demonstrations at Citywest following an alleged sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl in the vicinity of the hotel in the early hours of Monday morning."
Nearly 300 gardaí were deployed to Citywest as large crowds gathered at the hotel entrance. Uniformed gardaí were sporadically pelted with fireworks, bricks, bottles and other missiles while forming a line to block the entrance. Public order units with riot shields moved in to protect the line and pushed protesters back, and an additional public order unit was deployed shortly after 10pm. Several people caught between two garda units were tackled and detained while attempting to flee. Seven people were arrested in connection with public disorder and one garda was hospitalised after sustaining an injury. A steel ring barricade was erected to keep protesters out.
