Connors ploughed his car into Detective Garda Shane O'Neill, striking the officer and leaving him injured on the ground. After the initial impact, Connors reversed his Audi TT at the injured garda while the officer attempted to move away. The injured garda had to crawl out of the way of the speeding Audi TT as it reversed towards him and then rammed his garda patrol car. The incident resulted in a custodial sentence for Connors.
