An alleged assault occurred just hours before a house in Edenderry, Co Offaly was targeted in an arson attack. Two suspected juveniles are reported to have attacked the house. A man was arrested in the Midlands Prison in connection with a row suspected to have led to the arson. Two people died in the fire: four-year-old Tahdg Farrell and his great aunt Mary Holt. The fatal attack took place on Saturday, December 6. Authorities are investigating links between the earlier assault, the arrest, and the fatal arson in Edenderry.
