"A Ukrainian man has been charged in connection with the death of a man in his 30s, who sustained serious injuries, following an alleged assault in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon on New Year's Day. Yevhen Shutko, (46) who lives in rented accommodation in the county, was brought before Roscommon District Court on Sunday morning. He is charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Jordon Nevin, on Barrack Street, Ballaghaderreen, on January 1, 2026."
"Mr Nevin sustained critical injuries following an incident on Barrack Street, which occurred at approximately 1am last Thursday morning. He was subsequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he died on Saturday evening. During a brief special sitting of Roscommon District Court this morning, Detective Garda Brendan McGrath told Judge James Faughnan that Mr Shutko had been charged under Section 4 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act, 1997."
Yevhen Shutko, 46, who lives in rented accommodation in Co. Roscommon, was charged in connection with the death of a man in his 30s following an alleged assault on New Year's Day in Ballaghaderreen. The victim, Jordon Nevin, sustained critical injuries around 1am on January 1 on Barrack Street and was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he died on Saturday evening. Shutko was brought before Roscommon District Court and charged under Section 4 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act, 1997. A bail application by defending solicitor Bríd Miller was refused and Shutko was remanded to appear at Ballaghaderreen District Court on 9 January. Further charges may be brought.
