Mairia Cahill: Verona Murphy has a duty to ensure she is not used as a political pawn
"If she didn't realise she was in the middle of a Sinn Féin photoshoot last week, the Ceann Comhairle needs togo to Specsavers"
"It's not every day you see a crowd of Orangewomen on the Dáil plinth. Last Tuesday, 13 of them (and four men) gathered, wearing the campaign colours of the Elimination of Violence Against Women Day, smiling for the camera."
"Three of the women were members of the public. The rest, bar one, were Sinn Féin parliamentarians."
The Ceann Comhairle appeared unaware of being in the middle of a Sinn Féin photoshoot on the Dáil plinth. A group of 13 Orangewomen and four men gathered on the plinth, wearing the campaign colours of Elimination of Violence Against Women Day and smiling for the camera. Three of the women present were members of the public. The remaining women, except for one, were Sinn Féin parliamentarians, making the assembled group predominantly composed of party representatives rather than solely members of the public or community groups.
