Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and reported plans for additional long-range strikes deep inside Russia. Syrskyi said Russian forces are concentrating on the Pokrovsk region, where fierce fighting has produced heavy Russian losses. President Zelensky stated that in the first eight months of 2025 Russian forces have suffered roughly 290,000 deaths and severe wounds, with the heaviest losses in Donetsk and Russian objectives unmet. Zelensky said stabilization measures are underway on some front sections, praised units replenishing Ukraine's 'exchange fund', warned the Kremlin, and confirmed forces and resources are prepared for new deep strikes.
President Zelensky said that in the eight months of 2025 Russia n force have either suffered 290,000 deaths and severely wounded soldiers fighting on the front. Most of the heaviest losses have been witnessed in the Donetsk region and Russia forces have failed to achieve their objectives. Zelensky added, "On some sections of the front, our stabilization measures are currently underway. I am grateful to every unit that ensures the replenishment of Ukraine's 'exchange fund'; we see the corresponding results weekly."
