""the most ludicrous decision I've ever seen or heard of""
""give up a free weekend to go to a festival""
Wexford GAA scheduled no championship games on the same weekend as the Electric Picnic at the end of August. Former Model hurling forward Paul Carley described the move as "the most ludicrous decision I've ever seen or heard of". Carley took charge of Glynn Barntown this year and criticized Model chiefs for making an unprecedented choice to "give up a free weekend to go to a festival". Carley strongly condemned the decision and presented it as an ill-considered sacrifice of a championship weekend for festival attendance.
