Irish person 'repeatedly punched in the face by police' during Gaza protest in Berlin
Briefly

The incident occurred on Rosenthaler Straße in Berlin after calls for people to "flood the streets" from 6pm on Thursday. Videos show Kitty O'Brien clutching a mangled nose, lifting bloodied hands toward German police, and shouting that their blood is on the officers' hands. Two male police officers then drag the activist from the crowd and march them away. The Berlin police have been accused of brutalising and leaving an Irish activist bloodied. The Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign described the actions as indefensible, accused Germany of complicity in genocide, and demanded immediate government intervention on Kitty's behalf. Berlin police reported the incident to the Directorate for Police Offences for review.
"Germany is broadcasting to the world their complicity in genocide in both word and deed. "Kitty was simply protesting and doing their duty in upholding international law, an obligation that the German state repeatedly chooses to ignore. "Germany must reckon with the fact that providing political and material support for an ongoing genocide does not lessen their culpability for the Holocaust. "We demand immediate action from our government to intervene on Kitty's behalf, and on behalf of all who continue to suffer police brutality for taking a stand against genocide, ethnic cleansing and apartheid."
