India orders airlines to inspect Boeing models after Air India crash
Briefly

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation mandated inspections of fuel control switches for Boeing 787 Dreamliners and some Boeing 737s. This directive follows an investigation into a June crash of a Boeing 787 that resulted in 260 fatalities. The preliminary report revealed that the switches had flipped off, cutting fuel supply to both engines. Conflicting communications between pilots were recorded in the cockpit, leading to speculation about human error, which some pilot associations have disputed. Airlines are required to report inspection findings by the upcoming Monday.
The movement of the fuel control switches allows and cuts fuel flow to the plane's engines.
All but one of the 242 people on board were killed, as well as 19 people on the ground.
According to the report, cockpit voice recordings captured a moment of confusion between the pilots, with one asking the other why he cut off the fuel.
The Indian Commercial Pilots' Association in a statement on Sunday said it was 'deeply disturbed by speculative narratives ... particularly the reckless and unfounded insinuations.'
