Israel's foreign ministry said the flotilla's vessels and passengers were safe, had been transferred to an Israeli port and were expected to be deported promptly. Heneghan recorded a video saying he had been intercepted and kidnapped and urged people to pressure the Irish Government for his release. Tánaiste Simon Harris said embassy staff in Tel Aviv are in contact with Israeli authorities and are providing consular assistance, expecting processing at Ashdod and transfer to a detention facility south of Tel Aviv.
