'Hopefully I'll be in contention' - Rory McIlroy in the mix heading into the final round at Irish Open
"As I was walking off the 18th green, I said to Harry (Diamond, caddie) this is probably the most frustrating four-under-par round of golf I've played in a while. "I felt like I gave myself a lot of chances, hit some good putts that didn't go in. Had a nice one that dropped at 14. I feel like I could be a couple of shots better, but overall still in a decent position going into tomorrow.""
""I really felt for a few moments I was playing on the Playstation, to be honest. Every single shot was directly to the pin. "I was feeling since the shot on hole number three - I hit a perfect shot (to 18 inches off the tee) - I felt like, okay, I'm feeling like in control with the swing. I feel smooth. I said to my caddie, 'okay, it's a moment to throw the coin and see if we can go really low'.""
Rory McIlroy posted a bogey-free 68 and is tied for fourth at 11 under. Saddier shot 68 to lead at 15 under. Hidalgo produced a stunning 63, including seven consecutive birdies on the front nine and 12 birdies in total, equalling the European Tour record despite a double bogey at the 16th, and reached 12 under. Alfredo Garcia-Heredia recorded a 67 with two eagles to also reach 12 under. McIlroy described his four-under round as frustrating after missing several chances and said he aimed for a fast start the next day. Saddier warned that 18 holes remain and anything can happen.
