Madalin Lingurar (26) of North Circular Road, Dublin 7, originally from Romania, pleaded not guilty to trespassing at Sydenham Villas, Dundrum on 1 October 2024. He was convicted after a hearing before Judge Derek Cooney; a related criminal damage charge was dismissed. Gardaí were called shortly after midnight when a homeowner reported two men on his property. The homeowner described hearing noises, initially thinking they were foxes, then hearing metal scraping and seeing two men at his window, one demanding his phone. Lingurar said he could not remember because he had been drinking and insisted he remained on the footpath. The judge found the homeowner’s account credible and moving.
