British Defence Secretary John Healey would take Vladimir Putin into custody to hold him accountable for war crimes. John Healey visited Kyiv and toured high-rise residential buildings hit by Russian drones. He cited atrocities observed in Bucha and the abduction of Ukrainian children in Irpin. Bucha contained mass graves and documented torture, rape and murder, with Ukrainian prosecutors reporting more than 1,400 civilians murdered and 637 killed in Bucha, including 37 children. The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin in March 2023 over illegal kidnappings. Kyiv faces continued attacks and the mayor urged residents to leave the city.
