Guillaume Cizeron's Winter Olympics glory overshadowed by scandal
"It was a lot of work, but from the beginning we had a lot of similarities in the way we trained and approached things,"
"It was also a chance to evolve, it was playful, we had a lot of fun from the beginning."
"Today, the universe offers us a new adventure. A duo born from friendship, respect, and love for the sport. A dance written by the years, and fueled by the fire of our dreams,"
Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry formed a partnership in March 2025 and won Olympic ice dance gold at Milan–Cortina 2026 less than a year later. Cizeron had skated with Gabriella Papadakis from 2004 until their split in 2024 and had won Beijing 2022 gold before announcing retirement in December 2024 and returning months later with a new partner. Fournier Beaudry represented Canada and Denmark nationally before gaining French citizenship three months before the 2026 Games. The pair beat Evan Bates/Madison Chock and Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier for gold. The partnership has prompted allegations of controlling behaviour and rape and generated significant public controversy.
