A German satirical television team filmed in Nuuk and indicated plans to raise a US flag in a public place. Comedian Maxi Schafroth attempted to run up the Stars and Stripes near the capital cultural center, claimed to be a US official, and was confronted by passers-by before leaving. Police arrived and imposed a fine, and an investigation is ongoing. Broadcaster NDR said filming took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mayor Avaaraq Olsen expressed outrage, saying the stunt amplified local fears and was harmful, especially to children, given recent US statements about Greenland.
