King Frederik X landed in Nuuk and was greeted by Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and well-wishers waving Greenland flags. The king's first appointment was a lunch at the Hans Egede house, now used for official government receptions. The itinerary included tours of a high school, a factory, meetings with students, a visit to the Arctic Command, and a public coffee break at the Katuaq Cultural Center, followed by evening engagements. The visit carried symbolic weight after US threats to seize Greenland and heightened tensions among the US, Denmark and NATO. The king will travel to Maniitsoq and to a Danish Arctic training center in Kangerlussuaq. The monarchy remains popular in Greenland despite colonial history. Frederik is an avid outdoorsman who completed a gruelling 3,500 km ski expedition in 2000 and became monarch in January 2024 after Queen Margrethe's abdication.
