Jeff Landry, the US special envoy to Greenland, said he plans to visit the territory in March and expressed confidence that a deal over Greenland should and will be made. A bipartisan delegation of ten US senators arrived in Copenhagen to counter US claims and to meet with Greenlandic and Danish leaders. Troops from several European countries, including Germany and France, have begun arriving in Greenland in a show of support for Denmark while a Danish navy ship patrols Nuuk. Washington has said the presence of European forces does not change US objectives. Renewed attention followed a US operation in Venezuela that captured its leader.
