"The "Generaldebatte," or general debate, is a traditional event in the German lower house of parliament, or Bundestag. The debate focuses on discussion of the government's budget for 2026, but it is also often used by opposition parties to criticize the governing parties' policies. It will be opened by the leader of the biggest opposition force, Alice Weidel, who heads the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party."
