"I can hear much more than what makes it into the official record. There are condescending, derogatory comments about women,"
"That is unacceptable. That is beneath the dignity of parliament,"
"We need to collectively condemn such conduct in parliament. No lawmaker should be intimidated by this,"
"The minister should finally take care of the real problems in the country instead of publicly defaming the largest opposition party,"
"Our party will not be intimidated by the minister's allegations; rather, we will point out the government's failures, especially in health policy,"
Health Minister Nina Warken hears condescending, derogatory comments about women coming from the AfD parliamentary group and reports female politicians being attacked over appearance, clothing and opinions. Warken, who chairs her party's women's movement, describes the remarks as abysmal and beneath the dignity of parliament and urges collective condemnation to prevent intimidation of lawmakers. AfD health spokesman Martin Sichert rejects the allegations, accuses Warken of distracting from health-system problems and says the party will highlight government failures. Parliamentary reprimands and calls to order have risen sharply since the AfD entered the Bundestag in 2017.
