"Officers currently can only pass on information to Tusla"
Officers currently can only pass on information to Tusla. Gardaí will alert schools when a child has experienced or witnessed domestic abuse at home as part of an information-sharing initiative being brought forward by the Government. New legislation is being worked on that would allow school staff to be told so the correct supports can be put in place. The measure is intended to enable schools to identify and support affected children, coordinate safeguarding and pastoral responses, and create a formal pathway for sharing domestic-abuse exposure information between police and educational settings.
