"A spokesman for An Garda Siochana, said they were investigating the matter. A source said that this afternoon at around 3pm calls were received by three different garda stations in which male voices indicated there was some sort of bomb at the home of the Tanaiste. Mr Harris and his family were not home at the time. Gardaí responded to the threats and went to the home of Mr Harris. It is understood that a sniffer dog was used in the assessment of the threat."
""What I and my family have faced in recent weeks is not political debate. It is abuse. It is intimidation. It is behaviour that should never, ever be treated as normal. And no one is to blame except those choosing to abuse and make threats. "The threats made against my family are having deeply distressing consequences. Last week, direct threats were made against my children. And now, this weekend, late last night, vile and horrific threats were directed at a very close family member.""
""There is a clear and sinister pattern and a very apparent motivation; to intimidate me out of public office." Mr Harris added: "As I said in recent days, I know we are meant to keep silent. I know for some it seems like a new reality that those in public life must accept. But I cannot. "It is me today but it will be someone else tomorrow."
Multiple calls were received by three different garda stations around 3pm indicating a bomb at the Tanaiste's home. Mr Harris and his family were not at the house when threats were reported. Gardaí attended the property, used a sniffer dog and remained at the scene while investigating. This incident is the third threat against the Tanaiste in just over a week, following a recent threat to a close family member and threats directed at his children. A woman was arrested and released during the week. Mr Harris said the threats aim to intimidate him out of public office and said he will consult political colleagues.
