Patrick Lawlor and his wife, Leonie, received free legal aid from the High Court in July to contest Criminal Assets Bureau proceedings concerning their home. Lawlor, a convicted bagman in an organised crime network, has applied for further legal aid to fund a quantity surveyor valuation amid CAB's seizure bid. Lawlor was sentenced in October 2022 to seven years' imprisonment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court after admitting involvement in a money laundering operation for a criminal gang that generated almost €12 million in 2019.
