Emergency services were dispatched to Damascus Street in the Holylands area of south Belfast shortly before 5:30pm on Tuesday after multiple people became unwell. Police, ambulance and fire crews, including around 30 firefighters and a specialist hazardous materials unit, attended the scene. Several police officers were taken to hospital as a precaution. Four patients were transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital after initial treatment; their conditions are not deemed life-threatening. Streets around Damascus Street were sealed off, residents were advised to close windows and doors, and the public was asked to avoid the area while inquiries continue.
