In its latest climate statement, the national forecaster confirmed that last month was the fifth wettest in 85 years of records for Ireland, based on preliminary data from 25 principal weather stations."
"The rainfall was above average last month in most places across the country, with the highest daily and monthly totals recorded for Johnstown Castle in Co Wexford. It saw 206pc of the monthly rainfall values, and was also home to the month's wettest day, with 66.9mm on November 14, associated with Storm Claudia. Meanwhile, the lowest monthly rainfall totals last month were recorded at Oak Park, Co Carlow, with 110.1mm."

The month ranked as the fifth wettest in 85 years based on preliminary data from 25 principal weather stations. Rainfall was above average nationwide, highest at Johnstown Castle, Co Wexford (206% of monthly values) and including the wettest day, 66.9mm on November 14. Oak Park, Co Carlow recorded the lowest monthly total at 110.1mm. The midlands, south and east were the wettest, with a national gridded average of about 189mm.
