Following the Leinster Senior Hurling Post Primary Schools Final at UPMC Nowlan Park, members of the winning St Kieran's team climbed onto the fence separating the pitch from the spectator stands after the final whistle. The fence collapsed, causing supporters to fall onto the pitch and creating a pile-up that reportedly resulted in injuries both from the fall and from other supporters landing on top of them. Kilkenny GAA confirmed three people required medical attention and that the County Board Medical Team put a response plan in place. St Kieran's College defeated CBC Kilkenny 2-25 to 0-10, winning the Leinster Corn Ui Dhuill Senior Hurling title for the fourth consecutive time and the school's 60th Leinster title.
