Fence collapse injures at least three as supporters fall onto the pitch at Kilkenny schools hurling final

"Following the Leinster Senior Hurling Post Primary Schools Final at UPMC Nowlan Park, an incident occurred during post-match celebrations when players approached supporters in Ardán de Grás, A section of pitch-side fencing gave way, resulting in a number of supporters falling. Three supporters required medical attention, and a response plan was put in place by the County Board Medical Team to treat the individuals."

"In a video that has been widely circulated on social media and seen by the Irish Independent, members of the winning St. Kieran's team can be seen climbing onto the fence separating the pitch from the spectator stands following the final whistle. The fence then collapses causing supporters to fall onto the pitch leading to a pile-up with people reportedly injured from the fall itself and from other supporters landing on top of them."

The fence collapsed, causing supporters to fall onto the pitch and creating a pile-up that reportedly resulted in injuries both from the fall and from other supporters landing on top of them. Kilkenny GAA confirmed three people required medical attention and that the County Board Medical Team put a response plan in place. St Kieran's College defeated CBC Kilkenny 2-25 to 0-10, winning the Leinster Corn Ui Dhuill Senior Hurling title for the fourth consecutive time and the school's 60th Leinster title.
