"Disruptions which affected several European airports over the weekend were caused by a third-party ransomware incident, the European Union's cybersecurity agency said on Monday. "The type of ransomware has been identified. Law enforcement is involved to investigate," the agency ENISA said in a statement. Operations at several major airports in Europe faced disruptions Saturday after a cyberattack targeted the service provider for check-in and boarding systems."

"The service provider is actively working on the issue and trying to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.""
ENISA identified the type of ransomware and said law enforcement is investigating the incident. The cyberattack targeted the service provider for check-in and boarding systems and caused operational disruptions at several major European airports. Flights were delayed or canceled in London, Berlin and Brussels. Brussels Airport asked airlines to cancel half of departing flights on Sunday 21 September to prevent long queues and further late cancellations. Passengers with weekend flights were advised to confirm travel with airlines before heading to airports. Operations remained disrupted at Berlin airport, affecting runners in town for the Berlin Marathon. The service provider is actively working to resolve the issue, and aviation data showed dozens of cancellations.
