EU still pouring billions into Russian gas economy despite war in Ukraine, analysis shows
"not just customers; we are the essential infrastructure keeping this flagship project alive"
"Every cargo that offloads at an EU terminal is a direct deposit into a war chest that fuels the slaughter in Ukraine. We must stop providing the oxygen for Russia's energy profits and shut the Yamal loophole now."
"Europe has already cut its dependence drastically. Now, we're turning off the tap for good. Russia will no longer be able to use energy as a weapon against us."
"continue serving as the logistics lung for Russia's larges LNG terminal" , "current geopolitical situation, we cannot afford another year of complicity"
Yamal LNG exports generated €7.2 billion for the Kremlin in 2025. Around 15 million of the 19.7 million tonnes (76.1%) of LNG exported from Yamal was shipped to EU terminals in 2025. Campaigners warn that every cargo offloading at an EU terminal becomes a direct deposit into Russia's wartime finances and that EU ports continue to serve as logistical infrastructure for the Yamal facility. The EU committed to a total ban on Russian LNG imports by 2027 to reduce reliance and weaken Russia's oil industry. The EU share of Yamal shipments rose to 76.1% from 75.4% the previous year, and the United States is urging global importers to cut Russian oil purchases to pressure Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
