A 4.6 magnitude earthquake occurred just north of an Alaskan volcano, Mount Spurr, which is currently under an eruption advisory. The quake was detected by the US Geological Survey in Petersville, about 48 miles from the volcano, and was reported felt in Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna region. The Alaska Earthquake Center noted the earthquake struck at 10:38 am local time at a depth of 52.4 miles. Nearly 200 reports of shaking were received from the sparsely populated area.

Mount Spurr is currently under an eruption 'Advisory' due to a low level of unrest with occasional, small earthquakes occurring beneath the volcano.
