"I heard in evidence that Ruth laughed about my loyal brother dying for his friend. To think that someone would find that funny is so beyond belief. As a woman and a mother to think that another woman would laugh at the violent death of someone's loved one; [it] makes us sick to our stomach. I wonder does she still find it funny. I wonder is she laughing now as she hears the impact of what she did to my family"
"ten years running from a murder in a country she knew had no extradition agreement with Ireland"
Two men, Anthony Keegan and Eoin O'Connor, were found bound and buried in a shallow grave on a lake island more than a decade after they went missing. Ruth Lawrence was convicted and handed two life sentences for their murders. Lawrence altered her appearance, adopted the surname Lawless, and spent ten years in a country without an extradition agreement with Ireland. She also used the email address "ruthofallevil." Detectives confirmed both victims were from Dublin and childhood friends; O'Connor was the father of two young daughters. The victim's sister delivered a forceful impact statement at trial.
