Mette Frederiksen traveled to Nuuk to demonstrate support for Greenland amid renewed US interest in the island. President Trump shifted from threatening to seize Greenland to seeking negotiations and described a framework for a future agreement. Trump asserted the US "needs" Greenland for "national security" and alleged without evidence that the island is "covered with Chinese and Russian ships." Frederiksen met and embraced Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen on arrival and held talks. Frederiksen spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels about boosting regional security. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said no detailed plan has been finalized.
