A corruption scandal involves President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's former business partner Timur Mindich, political allies, and other figures accused of profiting from a nuclear power monopoly. Authorities allege kickbacks of up to 15 percent on Energoatom contracts totaling about $100m. Energoatom manages Ukraine's nuclear power stations, which have become the country's main electricity source after Russian strikes damaged generation and distribution infrastructure. Mindich reportedly fled Ukraine and traveled to Israel shortly before investigators arrived. Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) have charged Mindich and seven others with bribery, abuse of office, and illegal enrichment, risking political fallout and donor displeasure.
