Claire Byrne to leave RTE and take over from Pat Kenny on Newstalk's weekday show

Pat Kenny will move the Pat Kenny Show from weekdays to a weekend slot in spring while retaining his current Monday-to-Friday 9am–12pm show until then. He extended his Newstalk contract through 2026 and will join the board of Bauer Media Audio Ireland while planning additional ventures with Newstalk and Bauer. Claire Byrne previously hosted Claire Byrne Live on RTÉ One for over seven years and took over the Today programme in 2020. David McCullough will replace Byrne in the 10am–12pm weekday slot later this year. Kenny's mid-morning show has an audience of 216,000 and has won multiple IMRO awards.
I've just extended my Newstalk contract into 2026 so this show will continue unchanged into the new year but in the spring of next year, I'm moving the Pat Kenny Show to the weekends, Saturday and Sunday, where I hope to make a big impact for the station. So, the reason for saying this is I just want to thank all of you for helping to make this show the biggest show on commercial radio. But for now, the shows goes on
