Ms Connolly was inaugurated in St Patrick's Hall at Dublin Castle, repeated the Declaration of Office in Irish, signed the oath, and was officially declared president. A 21-gun salute was fired as she was handed the Seal of Office and dignitaries from across Irish life attended. Taoiseach Micheál Martin introduced her and praised her record of outstanding public service. Ms Connolly said she will ensure all voices are represented, heard and valued and pledged to build on her predecessors' work. She referenced Ireland's history of famine, oppression, and peace, warned against ignoring forced migration, and criticised service gaps and neglect of the Irish language.
