"Mr Phelan (57), also known as Diarmuid Rossa Phelan, who lectures at Trinity College Dublin, had an assault charge against him dismissed by a judge back in June, who said the law professor would not get a fair trial."
Diarmuid Phelan, a 57-year-old barrister and lecturer at Trinity College Dublin, is the subject of a personal injuries action brought by neighbour Kevin McHale. Phelan was acquitted earlier this year of the murder of 35-year-old Keith Conlon at Hazelgrove Farm in Tallaght. A separate criminal allegation that Phelan assaulted his neighbour did not proceed. An assault charge against Phelan was dismissed by a judge in June on the basis that the law professor would not receive a fair trial. The civil claim follows those unresolved disputes between neighbours.
