Erin Patterson has been found guilty of causing the death of her lunch guests. The jury reached their verdict after seven days of deliberations in a trial that lasted 11 weeks. Patterson remained calm as the charges were read and maintained eye contact with the jury. She arrived at the court flanked by security and appeared composed while speaking to her lawyers prior to the verdict. Numerous journalists and members of the public gathered at the Latrobe Valley Law Courts in Morwell awaiting the verdict.
The jury has found Erin Patterson caused the death of her lunch guests. On the three charges of murder she has been found guilty. On the charge of attempted murder she has also been found guilty.
As the verdict was read out, Patterson did not drop her gaze from the jury. She looked ahead calmly.
Patterson has arrived in court for the verdict. She's currently speaking to her lawyers, led by Colin Mandy SC, before court begins any minute.
