Dunk and his squire Egg arrive in Ashford for a tournament as the Targaryens enter town led by Prince Baelor, Prince Maekar, and Prince Aerion. Aerion intentionally unhorses a competitor and later destroys a puppet show, breaking the performer's fingers and provoking a violent confrontation when Dunk retaliates. Finn Bennett describes Aerion as deeply insecure, craving family approval and justifying cruelty to win the crown.
