An air quality alert is in effect for parts of the Hudson Valley due to smoke and haze from Canadian wildfires. Cloudy and hazy conditions will persist through the afternoon, with temperatures cap at around 80 degrees. New York City has been obscured by haze, affecting air quality and leading to symptoms like watery eyes even in non-sensitive individuals. A temporary improvement in air quality is expected by Friday evening after two days of continued haze. Clearer weather with less humidity is forecasted for the following days.
An air quality alert remains in effect Wednesday for parts of the Hudson Valley due to smoke and haze from the Canadian wildfires. The remainder of the area will need to be monitored closely for elevated levels of smoke, as well.
Although sensitive groups are the most affected, even non-sensitive people have been reporting symptoms, such as watery eyes and stuffy noses.
A brief break may come on Wednesday night before the smoke/haze fills in again by Thursday. Better air quality and visibility should eventually arrive by Friday evening.
Tomorrow, however, we'll transition towards better weather, with brighter skies, less humid conditions and less in the way of haze.
