"A father whose son died at just nine years old has spoken of how much a children's hospice for the west of Ireland will mean to other families during some of the hardest moments of their lives."
"Chuck Dunford, from Ballina, Co Mayo, lost his son Kevin in April 2014 after months of travelling back and forth to Dublin as he received palliative care for a life-limiting condition he was born with."
Chuck Dunford, from Ballina, Co Mayo, lost his nine-year-old son Kevin in April 2014 after prolonged travel to Dublin for palliative care for a life-limiting congenital condition. Months of commuting for specialist treatment placed emotional and logistical strain on the family during Kevin’s final months. A children's hospice located in the west of Ireland would offer local, specialist end-of-life care and respite services, reducing travel burdens and providing critical emotional and practical support. Such a hospice would help families navigate the hardest moments of a child's illness and bereavement with more accessible, compassionate care close to home.
