Chris Taylor, a 35-year-old infielder, is not retiring and has instead gone on the minor league injured list due to a fractured forearm. Taylor split the previous season between the Dodgers and Angels and re-signed with the Angels on a minor league deal this year. Troy Melton, a 25-year-old Tigers right-hander, could be activated against the Orioles after opening the season on the injured list with an elbow injury. Melton has a 1.54 ERA across four minor league outings and has been considered for upcoming starts. Nick Kurtz extended his on-base streak to 46 games, tying Rickey Henderson for third in franchise history, and has produced strong recent offensive results. Patrick Corbin earned a win by allowing one run over six innings against the Pirates, striking out seven without issuing a walk.
