The Cuauhtémoc, a tall ship of the Mexican Navy, has been sailing annually since 1982 as a major part of cadets' training. After docked in Acapulco, it embarks on a lengthy voyage, this year lasting 254 days. The cruise's theme commemorates the 200th anniversary of the expulsion of the last Spanish stronghold in Mexico. Captain Víctor Hugo Molina Pérez emphasizes the ship's role as an ambassador for Mexico. Established as a training ship, Cuauhtémoc has broken records and earned awards throughout its voyages, including a historic circumnavigation in 2006.
Captain Víctor Hugo Molina Pérez stated, "Every port we call at and every activity we undertake will be an opportunity to showcase the greatness of our country, its values, and its culture."
The Cuauhtémoc, which first set sail in 1982, has undertaken numerous voyages, including a record-breaking 32,502 nautical miles circumnavigation in 2006.
