Heat failed to address biggest problem from last year-and it will cost them greatly
Briefly

The Miami Heat aim for a strong 2025-26 NBA season with an improved roster in a less daunting Eastern Conference. However, they face challenges due to a persistent lack of a reliable point guard. The acquisition of rookie Kasparas Jakučionis, who struggled in summer league, may not resolve their backcourt issues. Other options like Terry Rozier and Davion Mitchell raise doubts about their effectiveness. Although the Heat have assembled talent, they need a competent playmaker to effectively utilize their roster and achieve their ambitions.
While a rough summer session hardly defines a career, it does suggest his arrival wasn't the quick-fix solution to Miami's backcourt problems as many had hoped. There are major questions about his ability to separate and defend at this level, and everything from his distance shooting to his decision-making lacks consistency.
Terry Rozier clearly isn't the answer, and there are reasons to wonder how much of Davion Mitchell's stretch-run surge will prove sustainable. Remember, the No. 9 pick of the 2021 draft was discarded by two different clubs before landing in Miami.
The Heat have quietly pieced together a talented roster, but they still need an impact playmaker to put all of the puzzle pieces in order. Head coach Erik Spoelstra can only do so much from the sidelines.
