"He's the only four-time gold medalist in men's Olympic basketball history, after winning golds in London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, the Tokyo Games that were delayed a year until 2021, then Paris in 2024. In Paris, he became the career leader in points for the U.S. in Olympic competition, passing Lisa Leslie for that mark."
Erik Spoelstra, the Miami Heat coach selected to lead the U.S. men's basketball team at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, has responded positively to Kevin Durant's recent comments about potentially pursuing a fifth Olympic gold medal. Durant, currently 37 years old, is already the only four-time gold medalist in men's Olympic basketball history, having won golds in London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2021, and Paris 2024. In Paris, Durant also became the career scoring leader for the U.S. in Olympic competition. Durant has expressed his desire to play in Los Angeles if his performance level warrants selection. Spoelstra, who previously worked with Durant as an assistant coach on the 2024 Olympic team, praised Durant's passion for representing the country and noted that his game remains timeless.
