Cavs just handed Heat perfect trade partner for Tyler Herro this offseason
"In both series, against the Orlando Magic and the Cavs, the Pistons struggled with offensive creation from their wings. If it wasn't Cade Cunningham being the do-it-all offensive leader, or Tobias Harris turning back the clock on occasion, the Pistons mightily struggled on that end of the floor. It nearly cost them the series against the Magic, and was a big reason why they lost Game 7 on their home floor against Cleveland."
"Heading into the offseason, the Pistons will likely look to try to find a wing player who can score and create offense, at times, outside of the confines of the offensive system. If that's not Herro's strength, I'm not sure what is."
"If Detroit isn't ready to significantly change the DNA of their roster construction and would much rather make a slight addition that could have them right back in the championship picture of the Eastern Conference, Herro could be cheap enough and a worthy gamble in their eyes."
"Taking a flier on Herro in what will be the final year of his contract could be beneficial for both sides. If Detroit isn't opposed to throwing a draft pick in the Heat's direction, Herro could find his fresh start, and the Pistons could get the offensive-minded wing they desperately need."
Detroit struggled to generate offense from wing players in playoff series against Orlando and Cleveland. Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris provided some creation, but wing offensive production was inconsistent and nearly cost Detroit the series versus Orlando. The same issue contributed to a Game 7 loss at home against Cleveland. Detroit may target a wing scorer who can create offense outside the team’s system. Tyler Herro fits that profile, and Detroit could view him as a relatively low-cost gamble in the final year of his contract. A trade involving a draft pick could give Herro a fresh start while Detroit gains an offensive-minded wing.
