A recent 10-day Florida road trip taken by the author with their mom and stepdad highlighted the state's diversity but also reflected on areas for improvement. After traveling over 1,200 miles to locations like Key West, Orlando, and St. Augustine, they expressed a desire for more time in Miami and a more efficient travel route. Looking back, the author recognized the long drive back to Miami from St. Augustine as a downside, along with missing experiences in downtown Miami. Future trips will focus on better planning and scenic routes.
We traveled south to Key West, then back up to Orlando, further up to St. Augustine, and then back down to Miami, spending around two nights in each area.
If we redid the trip, we'd still fly into Miami, although would return to the UK from Orlando's airport - which is closer to St. Augustine by around 200 miles.
Looking back, it would have been nice to spend a little more time here, as I didn't have the opportunity to explore Downtown Miami or Little Havana.
Next time, I'd take a longer trip, drive more scenic roads, and avoid traveling around Thanksgiving.
